Rotary Club Welcomes New Members
Two new professionals join local service club
The Rotary Club of Ithaca is pleased to introduce two new members who have recently joined the service club. These community members bring professional experience from the business sector and volunteer in Tompkins County. Ithaca Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self.” Membership is open to all community members who share in this belief; new members are accepted year-round.
“The Ithaca Rotary Club is delighted to welcome these individuals,” said Rotary Membership Chair Ron Provus. “Our members come from all walks of life and have a wide variety of interests to match those of Rotary. As members of Ithaca Rotary, individuals give of their time and skills to positively impact the needs of our community.”
Ithaca Rotary welcomes:
Kathryn Nivison grew up in Cazenovia, NY and came to Ithaca in the mid 1980s to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. She earned a degree in human resources management from Walden University, and worked in that field for TransAct Technologies and Goodrich Corporation/Ithaco Space Systems. In August 2013, Kathy started her own business: Express Employment Professionals, a full service staffing/recruiting organization. Kathy is a member and past president of the local chapter of the Society of Human Resources Management.
Chris Sanchirico is the first executive director of IPEI. She moved to Ithaca in 1975 to attend Cornell, and after graduating, worked at the university for many years. In 1998, she accepted a position at Literacy Volunteers (now Tompkins Learning Partners) and returned to school, receiving a master’s degree in organizational communication from Ithaca College. She has worked for the Women’s Community Building, the Ithaca Breast Cancer Alliance, and Catholic Charities.
New Rotary members are invited to serve on projects and committees that are beneficial to Ithaca and the global community. Activities range from a few hours to longer time commitments. New members meet fellow Rotarians at weekly luncheon meetings held at the Country Club of Ithaca beginning at 12:15 pm every Wednesday. The public is welcome to attend a lunch meeting to learn more about Rotary. The cost for guests is $13.
