Polio Plus Gets Boost
Bettsie Park introduced her business partner Ken Jupiter and the two of them reported on the success of the day held recently when some downtown merchants donated 10% of their proceeds to the Polio Plus Challenge. These merchants included 15 Steps, Ten Thousand Villages, Habitat, The Goat Boy and Fibers. They then presented a symbolic check for $585.38 to Past President Dale and President Rich.
Bettsie reported that all the merchants involved had above-average sales for the day and that the event was a definite win for all involved.
Thanks to Bettsie, the Center Ithaca Merchants, and their customers, we are now more than half way to this year's goal of $1,000 goal. Rotary International has set the goal of $1,000 per club per year for the next three years to match the Polio Plus $100 million grant from the Gates Foundation.
