The Rotary Club of Ithaca made a special award presentation at its February 5 lunch meeting. Rotary President Angela Sullivan and Stacy Hall honored Rotarian Michael F. Brown with the prestigious Cliff Dochterman Award. The award recognizes Rotarians who have made distinguished and dedicated contributions to scouting through leadership, service, or mentorship.
Michael Brown’s life is a remarkable testament to the ideals that the Dochterman award represents. With over 47 years of service to the Boy Scouts of America, Mike has impacted the lives of thousands of young people. He has earned both the Taughannock District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award from the Baden-Powell Council, recognizing his exceptional leadership and contributions to Scouting. Mike has also been instrumental in organizing and leading local contingents on international Scouting adventures, most notably to Scotland.
“As a member of the Ithaca Rotary Club since 1992, Mike has been a devoted Rotarian; his work with Rotary and his dedication to service go hand in hand with his Scouting efforts,” said Ithaca Rotary President Angela Sullivan. “Mike’s ability to merge the values of both organizations has made him a unique and powerful force for good in our community. We are delighted to present him with this well-deserved award.”
Stacy Hall, District Executive of Boy Scouts of America – Baden-Powell Council, agreed, saying: “Mike’s ethical standards as an attorney, his love of Scouting, and his unwavering belief in the mission of Rotary make him a truly exceptional individual and an outstanding candidate for the Dochterman Award. Through his ability to inspire those around him, Mike has left an indelible mark on all of us.”
