Ithaca Rotary is once again offering Community Grants to Tompkins County non-profit organizations. Meant to improve the quality of life of our region, the Community Grants are funded by profits earned from Ithaca Rotary's annual Rose Sale.

In 2009, the program will include one large grant, specifically targeted towards the issues of hunger and food security, as well as a number of grants for general community projects.  The large grant will provide up to $5,000, while the remaining grants have historically awarded recipients between $200 and $1,000.

In 2003, the COMPASS II community needs survey revealed hunger as an alarmingly prevalent problem for the residents of Tompkins County. Over the past several years, Ithaca Rotary has targeted a portion of its community awareness and support activities toward ensuring food security. Non-profit organizations engaged in combating hunger are encouraged to apply for this year's large grant. All other community programs are eligible to apply for the regular community grants.

Applications and guidelines for both the large and regular grants are currently available for download here. Any not-for-profit, incorporated, human/social service provider in Tompkins County may apply.  Ordinarily, public/government agencies and individuals are not eligible to receive funds.  Funding is not usually granted for deficits or on-going operating expenses. The deadline for application submission is March 15, 2009.
