LAST WEEK’S PROGRAM

Heidi introduced District Governor Evan Kurtz, who shared a number of Rotary International and District initiatives and priorities:

  • This year’s theme is Serve To Change Lives. He hopes to get pins to us soon.
  • “Each One, Bring One” is the motto to increase global membership. We’ve been holding at 1.2 million members for 10 years and need to grow.
  • RI Convention is in Houston in early June. Register now!
  • Asking every club to coordinate a day of service this year, preferably collaborating with other nearby Rotary clubs or service organizations.
  • Empower women and girls worldwide
  • Setting up a committee to look at IDEA initiatives (inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility)
  • District communications will come through email. Social media is also good but not as well known or easily accessed by all members of our district.
  • Embrace the new 7th Area of Focus – Protecting Our Environment. Climate change is real and is impacting all aspects of our lives. We must do something – anything – to slow it down. Planning a multi-state clean-up project of the Susquehanna River.
