Gene Erickson got this pregnant sentence from his daughter Kirsten and saved it just for this occasion: from Shakespeare’s Otello: “Our bodies are our gardens to which our wills are our gardeners.”
- Catrina read August anniversaries and August birthdays, and said “my birthday is tomorrow when I turn 29!”
- Kelly had sent out an announcement about the Rotary Road Rally, which took place last Sunday. It’s an event that allows us to keep socially distant, so it fits in well!
- Heidi: Rotary Harvest will be Aug 21, Aug 28, and Sept 4; working with 8 families and delivering to quite a few children; logistics will be different this year so stay tuned. It’s our 15th year!
- Nancy Potter: on a walking tour along Cascadilla St., she saw the historical marker for Alex Haley’s birthplace; his 100th birthday is August 11.
- Linda Pasto: in Austin, TX and has a new granddaughter, Vivian Jane (7th in vitro attempt); $7 for the lucky 7 grandchild.
- Richard Kops: Linda and I seem to be passing the baton back and forth; he just returned from Austin visiting his daughter and her family. It’s HOT, so coming back was a treat! $20 to the pot
Joey Steinhagen, “Running to Places.” Heidi was honored to introduce our guest, whom she has known for a very long time…! In 2007, Joey founded R2P, based on his upbringing in NJ when he was part of a theater group. He earned a BFA in acting, and since has taught at IC, CU, Cortland State, the Ithaca Youth Bureau, and the Hangar Theatre. Now, after a pandemic delay, R2P is up and running again!
