THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Jean McPheeters tries to live each day by her personal maxim:  “Hear more and speak less.”  Adding a dash of humor (a given for Jean), she quoted her mother who was a corporate trainer:  “I teach men to be MY boss.”

LAST WEEK’S PRESENTATION

Serenna McCloud; photo by Mike Brown“The Workforce of the Future:  The Pandemic Has Changed the Game”

Serenna McCloud introduced John D. Clarke, MD, MBA, MS, FAAFP, who is Director of Occupational Medicine at Cornell University and an occupational medicine consultant.

Dr. Clarke emphasized that “COVID-19 has normalized telehealth” by offering health care remotely through the use of digital information and telecommunication technologies.  By transitioning in the direction of telehealth, Dr. Clarke acknowledges that this offers the US healthcare system a chance to reinvent virtual and hybrid virtual/in-person care models with the goal of improving healthcare, access, outcomes, and affordability.  Projections for health care of the future may be re-imagined by reviewing the success of telehealth and “looking at the end product and not where it is done.”

Early in the pandemic, Dr. Clarke created a health-hop rap video on YouTube called Clarke Fam – Stop Corona that was promoted for the prevention of COVID-19.
