WELCOME & TRADITIONS

A Note About the Newsletter

The Quartet (plus-one) of Reporters who reliably provide the raw ingredients for this Newsletter every week are my heros. They take careful notes during the meetings, and then work them over to deliver the foundation of what you read the following week. Their greatest expertise — and support for me as editor — is capturing the essence of the speaker’s presentation.

The — your — reporters are Kelly Buck, Gail Lyman, Loralyn Light, and Margaret Frank (plus, our godmother, Joanne Lamoureux).

This past week I was going to be out of town and unavailable to finish the newsletter, so we called it a reporters’ holiday. My trip was postponed (unreliable access to gasoline due to the Colonial Pipeline shutdown), so given I had no meeting notes, I zeroed in on the third leg of the stool, Mike Brown’s expressive photos. These are from last week, plus a few from meetings in April and March.

Please stay tuned after the photos for an invitation from the Dryden Club to attend their meeting this Thursday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

From Dryden Rotary Club President Dave Traver:

I'm inviting all our Tompkins County Rotarians to join our Thursday evening meeting at 7:00 PM on May 20, 2021. We are having a guest speaker, Mary Loehr to talk to us about ODE (Open Doors English). This is a non-profit ESL school located in downtown Ithaca.

They teach English as a second language to adults from all over the world. She will be joined with adult immigrants from around the world who live in Tompkins County. We would break out into small groups so we can chat with a student to see how the program works for them and stories they have to tell.

I have a link at the bottom of this message set up by our member Tony Salerno for you to register for the Thursday night zoom meeting. You then will receive a confirmation on how to join the meeting.

We look forward to having you join our meeting

You are invited to a Zoom meeting.
